Liverpool's name already engraved on 'Premier League trophy' ahead of return

With Liverpool sitting 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of the competition restarting, it seems a case of when, rather than if, they will win the title.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp's men can be crowned champions by beating fierce rivals Everton in their first game on June 21 back if closest challengers Man City suffer a defeat at home to Arsenal four days prior.

Celebrations are no doubt already being planned with the Anfield outfit needing a maximum of six points from their remaining nine fixtures to end a 30-year wait for a league title.

And it seems preparations are also being made outside of the club with a clip on Instagram claiming to show that Liverpool's name has already been etched on the 'Premier League trophy'.

A clip shared on Instagram by 'cheekysportinsta' reportedly shows the famous trophy with ribbons in the colours of Klopp's men adoring it, while their name is shown to have already been etched on the back.

The 'trophy' was also draped in ribbons of Liverpool's famous red (Instagram/cheekysportinsta)

Users, though, have been quick to point out that the 'trophy' in the clip is in fact not the actual one used by the Premier League, with some becoming super sleuths and pointing out some clues.

One error is that despite winning the title in the past two seasons, Man City's name only appears once between Chelsea's for the 2016-17 campaign and Liverpool's for this year's efforts.

Others also noted that there was a sizeable gap between 'Man' and 'City' for their 2015-16 win, while there was a much smaller space between the words for their next triumph.

It seems, then, that Liverpool's name may not yet have been etched on the actual Premier League trophy - even if it seems only a matter of time before they are crowned champions.

And even after a three-month delay to their coronation because of coronavirus, Reds fans are no doubt brimming with anticipation for the moment they can celebrate another title.
