Liverpool's Mohamed Salah tipped to win Golden Boot ahead of Sadio Mane by former Arsenal player

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has backed Mohamed Salah to win the Golden Boot award this season ahead of Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.

Salah has scored 57 goals for the Reds since joining from Roma in 2017 and won the top goalscorer accolade in his first term at Anfield while claiming it again last season alongside Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who all finished on 22 goals for the domestic campaign.

The Egyptian frontman has already scored three goals in four games this season and Keown believes he will out score Mane to take the Golden Boot come the end of the season.

Premier League top scorer: Who leads the race for the golden boot?

"If Liverpool are going to be champions, it has to be Mohamed Salah," Keown wrote in the  Daily Mail  .

"He will pip Sadio Mane this season, and I'm sure Klopp won't have let those two leave Turf Moor on Saturday without dealing with their squabble.

"Salah went through a spell where he struggled to score last season, but I see more in his play this year than I have before."

Keown also backed Liverpool to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City this season.

He added: "I backed Liverpool in my pre-season predictions, and had City, Tottenham and Arsenal completing the top four. I'm standing by that, but fourth is wide open."
