Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has sent a powerful message in defence of women's rights.
The striker was in action for Egypt on Wednesday as they secured a place in the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah, who scored a superb goal in the 2-0 win over DR Congo, sent out the empowering condemnation on social media.
The first post on Twitter read: "We need to believe in second chances... we need to guide and educate. Shunning is not the answer."
In a separate tweet the 27-year-old continued: "Women must be treated with the utmost respect. "No" means "no".
"Those things are and must remain sacred. I also believe that many who make mistakes can change for the better and shouldn’t be sent straight to the guillotine, which is the easiest way out."

Women must be treated with the utmost respect. “No” means “no”. Those things are and must remain sacred. I also believe that many who make mistakes can change for the better and shouldn’t be sent straight to the guillotine, which is the easiest way out.

This isn't the first time the Champions League winner has criticised the treatment of women.
Following his interview with TIME magazine Salah was hailed a feminist icon.
He urged: "I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture. It’s not optional."
