Liverpool's Mohamed Salah calls on Daniele De Rossi to join him at Anfield

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has given Jurgen Klopp food for thought by inviting Daniele De Rossi to come and join him at Anfield – admitting that he'd love to play alongside the veteran Italian midfielder again.

De Rossi, who turns 36 in July, bid an emotional farewell to home city club Roma – the team with whom he has spent his entire career to date – in Sunday's 2-1 home victory over Parma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Home captain De Rossi, making his 616th appearance for I Giallorossi (the yellow and reds), was in tears at the final whistle as he was embraced by fellow club legend Francesco Totti who hung up his boots two years ago after also spending his entire career at Roma.

Another native Roman, coach Claudio Ranieri also ended his latest stint at the club but unlike Totti, De Rossi may not yet be finished and is believed to be weighing up his options with Argentinian club Boca Juniors' sporting director Nicolas Burdisso claiming the player is keen on a switch to South America.

However, Salah , who played alongside De Rossi at Roma between 2015-17 before his move to Anfield, has declared that he love to line up alongside his old pal again.

The Egyptian international told Gianluca Di Marzio : “He is a legend of the club and of Italian football, not just because he is a great friend of mine.

“A future for him in the Premier League? It would be beautiful, but I don’t know if it’s possible. It would be pleasing for me to play with him again, he is an optimal player.”
