Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp praises 'incredible' Marcelo Bielsa after beating Leeds boss to award

Jurgen Klopp has insisted he did not deserve to win FIFA's Best Men's Coach award after beating Leeds United's Marcelo Bielsa and Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick to the prize.

After leading Liverpool to their first Premier League title, Klopp scooped the prize at FIFA's annual The Best awards for the second year in succession.

Klopp was also named the best men's coach in 2019 following Liverpool's Champions League triumph.

Bielsa and Flick were also shortlisted for their achievements, with Bielsa leading Leeds back to the Premier League and making an impressive start to life back in the top-flight and Flick winning a treble with Bayern Munich, including the Champions League.

With Flick also winning the European Super Cup this season, Klopp admitted he felt his compatriot would have been a worthy recipient of the award.

"I don't know why people voted for me but, for me, Flick deserved it for his titles.

Klopp also paid tribute to Whites boss Bielsa, revealing he has not met a single contemporary who has a bad word to say about the Argentine.

The Liverpool boss also praised Bielsa's influence on football, with the likes of Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino having previously spoken of their admiration for the 65-year-old's style of football.

"He's doing an incredible job at Leeds," Klopp said. "Not winning doesn't say anything bad about Marcelo Bielsa, one of the most influential coaches in world football.

"I have never met anyone who had anything bad to say about him.

"He is known as a great football brain, winning an award or not does not make you a bad coach.

"My opinion doesn't change about him, he's an incredible, incredible coach."
