Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed what manager Jurgen Klopp said to his players in the dressing room at halftime during their 2-0 Champions League win over 10-man Atletico Madrid.
The Reds secured their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League after beating Atletico 2-0 in their Group B match at Anfield.
Diogo Jota headed Liverpool into the lead before Sadio Mane doubled the advantage as he cleverly diverted home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross.
Atleti defender Felipe was then sent off for a challenge on Mane in the 36th minute as Klopp's men went into the break in a very strong position.
And captain Henderson has said the Liverpool manager wanted to make sure his team continued "moving the ball quick" in the second half to help them see the game out.
Asked what the message was at halftime by beIN SPORTS, Henderson said: "Keep it going, keep moving the ball quick.
"We knew they'd find it difficult with 10 men to keep chasing, so keep them running, manage the game well and I thought we did that very well second half."
The victory secured a 25th match unbeaten, equalling the Reds’ record as a football league club set between March and September 1982 under Bob Paisley.
The win also gave Klopp some much-needed breathing room in Europe as, with a seven-point cushion in Group B, the side booked their place in the knockout stages and can now afford to rest players in their coming group games should they wish to do so.
