Liverpool's incredible Premier League dominance highlighted after latest Man City defeat

Liverpool may have already been crowned Premier League champions, but that does not mean Reds fans will stop finding satisfaction in their rivals’ defeats.

Manchester City are the latest team to lose in the top flight after being beaten 1-0 at Southampton on Sunday night.

It was a game that all pointed to a win for the outgoing domestic champions, with Pep Guardiola’s side mustering 25 attempts on goal with six on target.

In contrast, the Saints had just seven shots with one of their four on target finding the back of the net, in the form of a remarkable lob from Che Adams.

The result marked Man City’s ninth loss of the season, meaning they can now manage a grand total of 81 points should they win all five of their remaining fixtures.

To put this into perspective, Liverpool had achieved a total of 82 points before the season was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Reds passed that total following their 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Anfield back in March - meaning Jurgen Klopp's side could have lost every game after the restart and still come away with the top flight trophy.

After beating Aston Villa 2-0 on Sunday, Liverpool are still on course to achieve a record points total, surpassing the 100-point benchmark set by Man City in 2018.
