Met Office speaks out over 'snow to hit Merseyside' claims

Liverpool is supposed to face its heaviest snowfall tomorrow - or at least that's what some forecasters have predicted.

Metcheck uses climatological data, dating back to 1860, to work out when the date of the heaviest snowfall .

And according to the website, there is a 50% chance that on Friday January 17, Liverpool will be hit by snow.

Metcheck says that while its predictor won't guarantee when you will see snow, it will show you the most likely day for the biggest snowfall to occur.

However, the Met Office outlook for Friday (January 17) doesn't quite match up.

They say it will be: "An unsettled Friday with heavy showers, some turning thundery with possible hail or snow over the hills."

But there is no snow predicted for Liverpool.

So far, Friday appears to be a cool day with highs of seven degrees.

The only slight variation in weather is a light shower in the morning.

Whilst we will be seeing no snow, there is some good news as the weekend should be drier with plenty of sunshine.
