Liverpool's Harry Wilson set for Premier League debut after completing Bournemouth loan move

Harry Wilson will spend the new Premier League season at Bournemouth after completing his loan switch on Tuesday.

Wilson moves to the Vitality on a season-long deal and is in line for his top-flight debut when Bournemouth begin their season against newly-promoted Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.

The ECHO understands Liverpool have received a £2.5million loan fee with a further £500,000 in performance-related bonuses, but the south-coast side do not have an option to make the move permanent next summer.

Despite the move, both Jurgen Klopp and Wilson himself see the Wales international’s long-term future at Anfield.

The Reds youngster impressed at Derby last season, netting 18 times in all competitions and returned to Melwood ready to stake a claim during the pre-season schedule.

The forward caught the eye with goals against Borussia Dortmund and Lyon but a frontline that includes the likes of Sadio Mane , Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah means chances would be restricted at Anfield this term.

Wilson was keen to secure regular game-time in the Premier League for the coming season and knew his opportunities would be limited with the wealth of options at Klopp’s disposal.

David Brooks’ ankle injury sent Eddie Howe into the market for a replacement, with Wilson fitting the profile of player the Bournemouth boss wanted at the Vitality Stadium.

Wilson was the subject of several inquiries throughout the summer transfer window, but the Reds feel Howe’s style of football make the move a good fit for Wilson’s ongoing development.

Liverpool’s loan and pathways manager Julian Ward remained in contact with Wilson last season while on loan at Derby and provided regular feedback to Klopp on his performances as the Rams came within a whisker of promotion to the Premier League.

It is understood Ward has once again played an important role in Wilson’s move to the south coast and the loan offers the 22-year-old the chance to prove himself in the top flight with four years remaining on his current deal at Anfield.
