Liverpool's Harry Wilson on his texts from Jurgen Klopp and what his future now holds amid Leeds United, Wolves and Derby links

Wales star Harry Wilson has opened up on what his future holds, saying he will return to Liverpool for pre-season training.

The on-loan attacker was on the losing side at Wembley on Monday, suffering Championship play-off heartbreak with Derby County, with the Rams going down 2-1 to Aston Villa in the showpiece final.

Where Wilson will play his football next term has been the subject of intense debate over the past few weeks, with Derby boss Frank Lampard reportedly keen on retaining his services for another season.

But that appears unlikely now, with Reds chiefs keen for Wilson to ply his trade at the highest level possible.

The Welshman revealed he had been in contact with Jurgen Klopp and that he'll head back to Melwood for pre-season before a decision is made.

He told the Guardian: “It (playing in several positions) is only going to benefit me because now I don’t necessarily play on the wing, I play either side, number 10, central midfield.

“There is a loan guy called Jools [Julian Ward]. I am in touch with him and he reports back to the manager. I have had a few texts off [Jürgen Klopp].

“It’s good to know you are not being forgotten. I wanted to come to a good football team so I could showcase what I could do.

“Hopefully the manager has seen the games on TV and I’ve made a good impression. I’ll go back there pre-season. What happens from there I don’t know.”

Wolves, Leeds United and Bournemouth have all been credited with interest - both loan and temporary - with a £25million transfer fee touted if clubs want to sign him.

Wilson would face stiff competition at Anfield next season, with Klopp's squad brimming with attacking talent and poised again for a charge at the Premier League and Champions League.

The youngster in the European final on Saturday.
