Liverpool's FIFA Club World Cup prize money as third major trophy of 2019 gives Reds financial boost

Liverpool were confirmed as the champions of the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday night, beating Flamengo to the title thanks to a goal from Roberto Firmino.

The Reds had already picked up £16 million for winning the Champions League final, and collected £4 million for their UEFA Super Cup victory earlier this season.

Last night's victory not only meant winning a trophy the club has never picked up before, but also added another £4 million to their coffers.

That means the total prize money for the three trophies that the club have won in 2019 amounts to £24 million - enough to buy Takumi Minamino three times over, with some cash to spare.

Those figures are just for the one-off games, with much more money generated from the runs to each final.

In 2017/18, Liverpool banked a little over €81 million as they reached the Champions League final in Kyiv, while last season's win saw them take home around €30 million more thanks to UEFA's television rights deal being renewed.

This season, in addition to the millions won during the group stage, the Reds will take home €9.5 million for their last-16 clash with Atletico Madrid.

Should they progress in that tie, a further €10.5 million would be earned in the quarter-finals, a further €12 million in the semi-finals and another €15 million in the final.
