Liverpool's famous Greatie Market confirms plans to reopen on July 4

One of Liverpool’s most popular markets is reopening this weekend after weeks of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Greatie Market has been an important part of many people’s Saturday mornings for more than 50 years, and now it has confirmed it will reopen on July 4.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the go ahead for more businesses across England to reopen last week, easing lockdown restrictions further.

Sharing the news on Facebook, the team at Greatie Market said: “The wait is finally over”, with fans of the huge market excited to get back to their favourite place.

The full post read: “It has now been confirmed that the market will open on 4th July.

“As I'm sure you will understand that the government guidelines on social distancing will need to be adhered too.

“I'm sure I can speak for all the traders in saying we will try to ensure they're met without losing the character and friendliness you're used to.

“So please, during this time if you could give us your support as we all learn to adjust to the new rules and regulations.

“We hope to see all, in particular those regular faces who are just as much a part of the fabric of Greatie as the traders.

“The wait is finally over. We'll see you on the 4th.”

Excited fans commented below the post, with one person saying: “So happy to hear this, freezer is almost empty, can't wait to get back to Nicks”

Another just wrote: “!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSS”

A third added: “Oh yes count me in”.
