Liverpool's Dejan Lovren transfer stance revealed amid AC Milan interest

Liverpool are not desperate to offload Dejan Lovren this summer despite strong interest from AC MIlan.

Italian giants Milan are in the market for a new centre-half this summer and have turned their attention to Lovren after No.1 target Ozan Kabak opted for a switch to Schalke.

Lovren has two years left on his contract at Liverpool and the Champions League winners will demand a reasonable fee for his signature.

But Sky Sports has claimed that the Reds have not slapped a price-tag on the Croatia international and are yet to be approached by the Italians.

Lovren joined Liverpool in 2014 and has been a focal point of many successful cup runs including the back-to-back Champions League finals appearances.

However he found first-team opportunities hard to come by under Jurgen Klopp last season and fell behind Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in the pecking order at Anfield.

The defender made only 13 Premier League appearances last season and five others in cup competitions.

He may well be open to a move elsewhere and recent reports suggested his representatives held a meeting over a move away from Liverpool this summer.

Predrag Mijatovic is said to have met with AC Milan officials over a summer switch for Lovren. Members of the Croatian defender's team have been been spotted at the club's training ground over recent days.

Mijatovic is an intermediary for agent Vlado Lemic, who manages many top eastern European talents, including Luka Modric and Nemanja Matic.

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that conversations between Milan and Lemic's team were initially opened when AC executive Zvonimir Boban set his sights on landing Modric.

But discussions appear to have turned to Lovren. Whether the defender will be willing to make the switch remains to be seen, but Milan may well step up their pursuit soon.
