Daniel Sturridge has been sent for a precautionary scan on his foot after being ruled out of Liverpool’s Europa League tie with Bordeaux.
The England striker, who has yet to feature under Jürgen Klopp, completed a full training session on Wednesday and also trained on Thursday but complained of discomfort in his foot.
Klopp later confirmed they have sent him for a scan. “I can’t say so much about this because he trained in the morning, then we went to the hotel and Daniel was with us and then he had to leave to go for a scan. At this moment I cannot say more, we have to wait for the results,” he said.
Sturridge, 26, only returned to training last week after suffering a knee injury in the build up to Klopp’s first game in charge against Tottenham at the start of last month. Since joining Liverpool from Chelsea in January 2013, Sturridge has missed 72 of Liverpool’s 144 games in that period.
