Covid cases have surged across Liverpool as the Omicron variant continues to spread.
According to data on the government's interactive Covid map, the city saw cases rise by 74.7% in the most recent period covered (the seven days to December 30).
This gave Liverpool a total of 10551 cases in that period and a case rate of 2,108.2 per 100,000 people, which is higher than the most recent national average rate of 1,596.9.

The rise in cases across the city is seen on government's interactive Covid map, which provides specific case rates for local areas and neighbourhoods.
The map assigns a colour to each area depending on its rate. The areas with the highest rates - above 1,600 per 100,000 people - are marked in black on the map.
The vast majority of Liverpool's neighbourhoods fall into this category.
In fact, only eight areas in the city had rates below 1,600. They were Kensington (1,598.9), Pier Head (1,579.3), Chinatown, St James & Georgian Quarter (1,515.9), Fairfield West & Newsham Park (1,498.6), Wavertree South (1,276.0), Edge Hill (1,225.1), Central & Islington (1,169.5), Toxteth Park (1,087.0).
These areas all fell into the second highest category - those with rates between 800 and 1599 - and were marked in purple.
The remainder of Liverpool 's neighbourhoods were marked in black, with many well above the 1,600 threshold. Some areas had rates pushing 3,000, while some had seen their case numbers increase by over 150% from the previous period.
