When it comes to takeaways in Liverpool there are plenty to choose from but one seems to stand out above the rest.
According to TripAdvisor Docklands Fish & Chips is currently the number one fish and chip shop in the city.
The modest chip shop is based on the Royal Albert Dock, and inside contains a small seating area which gives guests the opportunity to either eat in or takeaway.
One recent reviewer said: "Need to visit this place if you’re on the Albert Dock, all fresh, amazing taste, by far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had."
Earlier this week, we visited Docklands Fish & Chips for the first time to see if it lived up to these TripAdvisor reviews.
Expectations were high as many customers have even claimed that they sell the "best fish and chips on Merseyside".
What we ordered
We decided to stick to a traditional order of fish, chips and mushy peas.
Priced at £9.50 the fish was the highlight of the takeaway; it was light, melted in the mouth and was covered in crispy batter.
It was big in size too, meaning we couldn't finish it all. But we could see why Docklands' receives so much praise, or so we thought.
However, when we tried the chips it went downhill.
The portion were dry, bland and almost cold when we tucked in. They were also extremely tough. The mushy peas did improve things slightly but not enough to win us back.
The chippy has a small menu in store, selling a wide range of other fishes such as scampi, haddock, cod and even calamari, as well as other British favourites such as meat and potato pie and chicken burgers.
