Liverpool's apology to supporters as Jurgen Klopp insists focus is fully on double glory

Liverpool FC have cancelled a special dinner with the players as Jurgen Klopp insists that they focus fully on the club's thrilling pursuit of Premier League and Champions League glory.

Captain Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold were scheduled to attend a sold-out event with around 450 supporters at Anfield on Thursday evening.

The trio were going to take part in a Q&A and tell stories about their playing careers with both the Reds and England.

However, with Liverpool playing Huddersfield Town in a crucial Premier League match just 24 hours later, Klopp has requested that the dinner is rescheduled as it would have interfered with the Reds' training programme. It will now take place early next season.

Liverpool FC have sent a letter of apology to all supporters who had bought tickets for the event.

Fans can either get a full refund or retain their tickets for the new date which will be announced in due course.

The letter read: “Given our strong position in the Premier League and Champions League, the team is continuing its important preparations for the final key games of the season.

“Therefore the decision has been taken to postpone this event to a later date which will likely be at the start of the new season.

“Please accept our sincerest apologies for the change, whilst we know this is disappointing, your tickets will still be valid for the revised date once confirmed.”

Tickets, which cost £90 for adults and £45 for under-16s, quickly sold out after going on sale back in January. Anyone wanting a refund should email:  hospitalitysales@liverpoolfc.com  or call 0151 264 2222.
