Jurgen Klopp has ruled out the possibility of Rafael Camacho leaving Liverpool before the end of the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old, who made his first-team debut in the Reds' FA Cup defeat at Wolves on Monday, has attracted interest from former club Sporting Lisbon in recent weeks.
Camacho left Sporting to join Liverpool's academy after a successful trial in 2016, and the Portuguese club are keen to strike a permanent deal to bring him back this winter.
Rangers have also been linked with a loan swoop for the teenager, who played under Steven Gerrard during his time in the club's youth setup.
However, when asked about the possibility of such a move materialising this month, Klopp said: "No, Rafa will not leave."
Standard Sport understands that Nathaniel Clyne's recent loan move to Bournemouth has heavily influenced the Reds boss' thinking when it comes to sanctioning a departure.
Although a forward at youth level, Camacho has operated at right-back during his forays into the first team, playing there throughout pre-season and at Molineux earlier this week.
With Joe Gomez likely to be out until February, the Portugal youth international is considered back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right-hand side of defence.
And so Klopp is keen to keep hold of him until the end of the current campaign at least in order to retain depth in that position.
