Liverpool Rock n Roll Marathon 2020 new date confirmed after coronavirus postponement

Liverpool’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon has officially been postponed due to the current coronavirus outbreak .

The highly anticipated event takes place annually and is always an incredible sight to see as thousands descend on the city centre in fancy dress to run the 5k and marathon.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect events across the country, organisers of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Liverpool have confirmed it will not go ahead as planned in May.

In a statement on the event’s official website, it was confirmed that the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will now take place across the weekend on October 24 - 25, 2020.

The full statement read: “In alignment with the Liverpool City Council and based on recent direction and recommendations from the British Government in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon & ½ Marathon, originally scheduled for the weekend of May 23-24, 2020 has been postponed to the weekend of October 24-25, 2020 due to force majeure.”

“In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we recognize that the postponement due to the above-mentioned, unforeseen events may come as a disappointment.

“While we are prevented from holding the event during the original May event date, we are looking forward to providing athletes with an exceptional event experience in the future.” the post continued.

Runners due to take part in the May event will receive an email with further details regarding the postponement.
