Liverpool reveal ticket plans for supporter return to Anfield

Liverpool will end the season in front of 10,000 supporters after plans for the return of fans to Anfield were confirmed.

The expected latest lifting of Government coronavirus restrictions on May 17 will allow for the return of crowds to Premier League matches.

And Liverpool have announced a ballot will take place for the 10,000 tickets made available for the final game of the season at home to Crystal Palace on May 23 - with all four sides of the stadium being used.

Government guidance means only supporters who live in the United Kingdom are eligible for the ballot, with supporters being asked to enter before 8am on Monday.

Fans must also be a season ticket holder or current official member with 19 credits from the 2018/19 Premier League season and have completed Fan Update.

Supporters who attended one of the three Premier League games at Anfield in December will not be eligible for the ballot.

Tickets will cost the same as those December fixtures, having been based on a weighted average of general admission and seasonal ticket prices across the stadium. An adult general admission ticket will cost £44.92 with concessional ticket prices based on the same weighted average calculation.

NFC technology will again be used to allow fans to gain access to Anfield using an electronic ticket on their smart phone to minimise physical contact.

Liverpool have been working closely with its city partners, Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police and Spirit of Shankly to create a robust plan in line with Government guidance.

The Palace game will represent the biggest crowd Liverpool have played in front of since a packed Anfield saw them eliminated from the Champions League by Atletico Madrid in March 2020.

There were 2,000 in attendance at each of December's home games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion, while Fulham hosted a similar amount of supporters for their home game against the Reds.

And around 5,500 Burnley fans are expected to be at Turf Moor for the visit of Liverpool, which is expected to be played on May 19 or 20.

With Premier League clubs deciding too much upheaval was required to accommodate away fans, around 230 extra seats will be available for Liverpool fans to watch their team during the final week of the campaign.

Had away following been allowed, there would have been roughly 270 Reds fans at Burnley and 9,500 at home to Palace.

Supporters interested in attending the Palace game can enter the ballot via an online system .
