Liverpool retained list as Adrian situation clarified and three more new contracts offered

Liverpool have offered Adrian a new contract as their Premier League retained list confirmed the departure of several Academy players.

Adrian will become a free agent at the end of the month but has been in talks over extending his Anfield stay into a fifth season having arrived in August 2019.

The Reds had previously announced the exits of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita after their contracts expire. Milner has already agreed to join Brighton, Keita has moved to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen while Oxlade-Chamberlain is receiving strong interest from Aston Villa.

A number of Academy players have been released, including Jack Bearne, who featured in the League Cup quarter-final at Aston Villa in December 2019 and spent last season on loan at Kidderminster Harriers of National League North.

Defenders Oludare Olufunwa and Charlie Hayes-Green, forwards Fidel O'Rourke and Iwan Roberts and goalkeeper Liam Hughes - who made the bench twice for the first team - will also leave.

Paul Glatzel, though, has been offered a new deal. The 22-year-old won the FA Youth Cup in 2019 with the Reds but has seen his last two seasons on loan at Tranmere Rovers decimated by injury. Young goalkeepers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have also been offered contracts.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Oscar Kelly, who has previously appeared in Premier League 2, is in discussions over a potential new role as a training goalkeeper and coach at the Academy.
