Liverpool restaurant finally reopening with big changes in place

One of Liverpool’s most popular restaurants has confirmed the reopening of another site after months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Independent restaurant Maray, which has three sites across the city, has announced it will reopen its Allerton Road site, following in the footsteps of its Albert Dock venue earlier this month.

Maray reopened its dockside restaurant on July 4 following the Government green light, saying it had “the most amount of space available both inside and outside” in order to adhere to social distancing rules.

While Allerton Road and Bold Street have remained closed a while longer, owners have been operating Maray Cafe, a street-level service serving falafel wraps, coffee, pastries, ice cream and takeaway cocktails at each site.

Now, Maray has confirmed that its Allerton Road venue will reopen for dining in on July 31.

Thomas White, co-founder of Maray, said: “We are very happy to announce that our Allerton Road restaurant will reopen for dining-in guests on Friday the 31st July.

“We cannot wait to open the doors of Allerton again, the response from our guests at our Albert Dock site over the last two weeks has been overwhelmingly positive, we have received a huge number of well-wishing messages and emails praising our team and working methods in response to the COVID-19 risk.”

Maray has implemented strict safety measures in order to reopen, with the safety policy “fully embedded” into staffs’ working process.

Among the changes are new ‘table drop points’ to avoid staff coming into close contact with guests, a maximum table size of six, staggered booking times, hand sanitising stations around the venue and floor markings to help with social distancing.

Maray has also reduced the amount of tables available at Allerton Road, similarly to its Albert Dock site, to allow for social distancing, while there will also be a limited menu available.

Maray Allerton will also continue to operate its click and collect and delivery service for those not yet ready to dine-in. Delivery and collection are available Wednesday to Saturday, 4pm-9pm.

Bookings will be made available soon.
