A Liverpool restaurant has been awarded the Best Pizza in England and Wales in The Italian Awards.
Crust, which has restaurants on Bold Street in Liverpool city centre and Allerton Road in Woolton, won the prestigious award last night following a live cook-off championship.
Crust shared the news on Twitter this afternoon, saying: “We only went and did it, we won the award for best pizza in England and Wales at the @Italianawards UK Pizza Championships #winners”.
Competing against 29 other pizzerias in the UK, Crust chef Luca D’Ambrosio went head to head to create his best margherita, as well as another featuring porcini mushrooms as the main ingredient.
Luca will go on to challenge the winners of the Scottish and Irish awards in the battle for the best pizza in the UK.
The award-winning pizza, the Pizze Autunno, is now available for a limited time at both Crust restaurants.
