Liverpool residents can get grant to heat homes and reduce bills

Homeowners in Liverpool can get a grant to help them make their homes warmer and their energy bills smaller.

As the cost of living crisis continues to impact on low income households, help is being offered to some via Liverpool Council.

If you live in the city, own your own home and have an income of less than £30,000 and/or receive a qualifying benefit, then you may be eligible for a grant towards heating your home and hopefully reducing your energy bills.

The potential improvements that the grant can be spent on include cavity/solid wall insulation, loft insulation, under floor insulation and alternative heating systems such as air source heat pumps and solar PV panels.

This weekend, the ECHO featured a story on a home in Clubmoor, where some of these changes have brought down a household's monthly energy bills by £100.

Dave Foster decided to make changes to his home - including installing an air source heat pump and solar panels - after his boiler broke last year.

Liverpool Council wants those fitting the criteria to contact its Healthy Homes team by calling 0800 012 1754 and quoting 'Green Homes Grant' for a discussion.

Alternatively you can email the team at healthyhomesprogramme@liverpool.gov.uk.

If you are eligible, the council will ask you to complete an application. If this is successful, a council-approved company will carry out a survey and arrange improvement works.
