Liverpool rescue centre just days away from running out of food to feed its dogs

A Liverpool rescue centre is just days away from running out of food to feed its dogs.

Carla Lane Animals in Need, on Spurriers Lane, Melling, has issued an urgent appeal for help in feeding its hungry animals.

The centre's dog food donations have almost dried up - leaving them to seek help from the kindhearted people of Liverpool.

A statement reads: "Unfortunately this is all the dog food we have left, this is only around two or three days worth of food and we are desperately in need of donations."

The centre is asking for donations of tinned dog meats such as Butchers, Winalot, Pedigree, Chappie, Forthglade, or similar - providing they are not gravy based.

The statement adds: "We always run low on dog toys too, so would be more than grateful for any toy donations."

The donations will go towards helping animals like Princess, a blind dog who has been described as a "super friendly" girl.

The eight-year-old dog was brought to the rescue centre through no fault of her own. Her previous owners were sadly unable to afford her vet treatment.

The charity has set up collection points for food donations at Dunelm in Aintree, Pets at Home in Burscough, Morrisons in Widnes and their CLAIN charity shop in Formby, for people who cannot get to their rescue centre.
