Liverpool face further wait over Yasser Larouci injury

Liverpool are still waiting to learn the extent of Yasser Larouci's injury.

Larouci was on the receiving end of a brutal foul that saw Sevilla defender Joris Gnagnon dismissed in the 2-1 friendly defeat in Boston on Sunday.

The 18-year-old left-back departed Fenway Park on crutches with his right leg in a brace, with the Liverpool medical team taking no chances over possibly exacerbating any problem.

The bruising is so severe around the injury that the Reds have been forced to delay scans until later on Monday to discover the precise nature of any damage.

Early diagnosis, though, has lessened fears of any serious ligament issue or a fracture, with the player having been caught heavily while running at full speed.

But Liverpool remain concerned over the Larouci's fitness, although they are hopeful he doesn't face a long-term absence.

Larouci has been one of the breakthrough stars of pre-season and was again encouraging before being scythed down by Gnagnon.

The Sevilla man later apologised on social media with his club also sending their well wishes to Larouci.
