The total of Covid infections in Liverpool still remains very high, despite a week on week 1% drop in positive tests.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the city totalled 2,472 infections in the week ending July 9, which is 28 fewer positive tests than the previous seven days.

This means that Liverpool's week on week percentage change in infections dropped by just a percent.
But the city's Covid infection rate still remains very high - latest infection rate figures show 496.3 cases per 100,000 people.
Infections are also very high across the Liverpool CIty Region and every other area of it - apart from the city - recorded a weekly percentage increase in positive tests.
Wirral recorded the highest number of new positive tests, with the peninsula totalling 1,686 positive tests in the week ending July 9, which is 292 more cases than in the previous week.
A high amount of new positive tests were also recorded for St Helens, with 902 infections in the week ending July 9, which is 163 more positive tests than in the previous week.
Infections also rose in Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester, and in West Lancs.
In the country overall, positive tests increased again: in the week ending July 9, England recorded 190,946 coronavirus cases, which is 48,692 more cases than in the previous seven days.

Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests totalled 2,472 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 28 fewer cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 1%.

Knowsley
There was a total of 740 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 50 more cases than in the previous week.
The latest infection rate is 490.5 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 7% week on week.
Sefton
In Sefton, there were 1,339 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 92 more cases than in the previous week. This means that the week-on-week percentage change increased by 7%.
The latest infection rate was 484.4 per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 466 positive tests over the last week, which is 98 more cases than in the previous week.
This means that the week-on-week percentage change increased by 27% in the week ending July 9. The latest infection rate is 360.1 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There were 902 positive tests in the week ending July 9, which is 163 more cases than in the previous week.
The latest infection rate was 499.5 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change in St Helens increased by 22%.
Wirral
There were 1,686 positive tests in the week ending July 9, which is 292 more cases than in the previous week. Wirral 's week-on-week percentage change increased by 21%. The latest infection rate was 520.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Liverpool City Region
There were 7,605 positive tests over in the week ending July 9, which is 667 more cases than in the previous week.
This means the week on week percentage change increased by 10%. The latest infection rate is 446.63 cases per 100,000 people.
West Lancs
West Lancashire recorded 477 coronavirus cases in the week ending July 9, which is 24 more cases than in the previous seven days.
There was an infection rate of 417.30 per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage increase of 5% in infections.
Warrington
There were 878 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 9, which is 141 more cases than the previous week.
The week on week percentage figure increased by 19%. There was an infection rate of 418.07 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 1,163 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 9, which is 187 more cases than the previous week.
The latest infection rate is 339.00 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage increase of 19% in cases.
