Liverpool have welcomed back Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip to training at Melwood.
Matip hasn't played since injuring his foot in the first post-lockdown game against Everton back on June 21.
The centre-back was blighted with issues across most of last term, suffering a three-month lay-off between October and January and missing the final seven matches after being taken off in the goalless draw at Goodison Park.
The former Schalke defender made just nine Premier League appearances as Liverpool stormed to their first title in 30 years.
However, Matip has now returned to action with his team-mates to ease the defensive concerns for Jurgen Klopp ahead of Saturday's friendly with Blackpool.
With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on international duty, Matip will be the only fit senior centre-half when the Seasiders visit Anfield.
But given the former Cameroon international has made just two starts in 2020, he is unlikely to be rushed back too soon by Klopp, particularly at a time when just three senior centre-backs are in the Liverpool squad.
Matip's absence for Saturday's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal saw 17-year-old Billy Koumetio given a spot on the substitutes' bench at Wembley.
However, it was Fabinho who was asked to deputise alongside Van Dijk when Gomez switched to right-back midway through the second half.
Matip's comeback will be viewed as a timely boost at Melwood as they prepare to kick-off their season in less than a fortnight.
Meanwhile Henderson also took part in the Thursday session as he aims to put his own fitness troubles behind him.
The Liverpool captain missed the final four games of last season after picking up a knee injury in the win at Brighton in July.
The setback initially left the Reds skipper on crutches but he did travel to the club's pre-season base in Austria to work on individual sessions with the coaching staff last month.
England boss Gareth Southgate opted not to select Henderson for their upcoming Nations League games, freeing up the 30-year-old to work on getting fit in time for the defence of the Reds' Premier League title, which begins at home to Leeds United on September 12.
Divock Origi, who missed the game against Arsenal with what was described as a "minor" trained too. The Belgian frontman missed both games in Austria against Stuttgart and Red Bull Salzburg.
Loris Karius was also part of the non-international contingent who trained at the club's West Derby base.
The German goalkeeper spent much of the last two years with Besiktas in Turkey but returned to Merseyside earlier this year following a complaint about unpaid wages.
Karius will continue to train with his team-mates but is understood to have little future with the Reds.
