Liverpool receive huge injury boost ahead of Spurs clash as star returns to full training

Mohamed Salah has returned to full training ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash against Genk on Wednesday.

The Egyptian missed Sunday's 1-1 draw against Manchester United as he recovered from the ankle injury he sustained before the international break.

Speaking before the game at Old Trafford, Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports:

“Mo was not ready, that’s how it is.

“He couldn’t train with the team; I don’t know where it came from that everybody said he will play. There was pretty much no chance for today, maybe for Wednesday, we have to see.”

But ahead of the European champions' trip to Belgium, Salah was spotted training with his teammates at Melwood.

The 27-year-old's return to full fitness will be a huge boost to Liverpool ahead of a busy week, with Tottenham Hotspur the visitors to Anfield on Sunday.

After dropping two points against Manchester United, Klopp knows his side must get back to winning ways as quickly as possible - starting against a struggling Tottenham.

Speaking after the United game, the German responded to a question about whether his team were frustrated by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team: "It's just a fact, when we come here, this year, last year, year before, they just defend. That's how it is, that's OK, it's no criticism, it's just a fact. It's not the usual way you think United plays against Liverpool, you would think both teams are trying like this.

"Again, the quality, we are the one team everybody is on their toes when United plays against us. It's no excuse, we need to do better, we can do better, but you cannot play against each team like this, how they played today.

"We are a good team, and when we play against somebody it is normal for them to say: 'How can we stop them?'"
