Liverpool are set to bank a further £21million from the Premier League prize pot after clubs voted to delay the coronavirus TV rebate, according to reports.
Broadcasters are due around £330million for the Premier League's three-month shutdown, of which £170million was set to be drawn from the TV money owed to clubs following the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign.
But clubs have agreed to postpone the payments to ease the financial burden of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, The Sun reports the money will be paid over the next two seasons.
It means clubs will now share an extra £170million, with Liverpool set to take the largest slice of the pie. The champions will now receive their full £175million payout for winning the English title for the first time in 30 years.
Relegated sides will Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford will each return to the Championship with a further £12m to cushion the blow. The decision is likely to play a significant role in transfer plans for several clubs this summer.
