Liverpool Ramadan timetable 2022: Prayer and fasting times

Muslim communities across the region will soon be welcoming the blessed month of Ramadan.

The exact dates of Ramadan change every year as Islam uses a calendar based on the cycles of the moon.

Ramadan this year is expected to start on April 2 2022 and finish on Sunday, May 1.

Liverpool Muslim Society has compiled prayer and fasting times for Ramadan in 2022.

This timetable gives worshippers all the information they need.

The Salat:

  • Fajr - observed before sunrise
  • Zuhr - observed after noon
  • Asr - observed in late afternoon
  • Maghrib - observed after sunset
  • Isha - observed at night

During this holy month, Muslims will fast between dawn and sunset as they devote themselves to their faith.

The break from preparing and eating meals allows for extra prayer time and the opportunity to read the Qur’an.

Ramadan is also a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, volunteering and spending time with family and friends.

The end of Ramadan is marked by a big celebration called 'Eid ul-Fitr'.

Ramadan is part of the five pillars of Islam.

They are:

  • Shahadah - declaration of faith
  • Salah - prayer
  • Zakah - charity
  • Sawm - fasting
  • Hajj - pilgrimage
