Liverpool pub which opened and closed on the same day is finally opening

A Liverpool bar which opened and closed on the same due to the coronavirus pandemic is finally reopening its doors this weekend.

Abbey Road Bar and Kitchen, on Harrington Street, launched on March 20, the same day Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered all restaurants, bars and pubs to close their doors.

The Beatles-inspired bar, which was previously the Pen & Wig, will reopen on July 4 after three months.

Inside Abbey Road , there is a collection of Beatles and Liverpool-themed artwork created by Paul Curtis, who is known for his work around the city including the Baltic Triangle's famous wings.

There is also a games room, as well as screens to show live football and other sports.

Brendan Soprano, general manager at Abbey Road, said: “We are looking forward to opening/launching again this week and hopefully for longer than seven hours.

Abbey Road is the sister venue to Harrison's Bar, on the corner of North John Street and Victoria Street, which will also reopen this weekend.

Bookings are not necessary, but guests will be greeted at the door and booked into a table on arrival.
