A Liverpool pub is set to have its licence reviewed after a request from Merseyside Police.
A notice posted on the council’s website on March 23 indicates that the Wheatsheaf Hotel on East Prescot Road will face going before the council’s licensing and gambling sub-committee to defend its licence.
The notice does not give specific details about Merseyside Police’s reasoning and evidence in asking for the review. However, it does say that it is related to ensuring the prevention of crime, protecting public safety and preventing nuisance.
More detailed evidence is likely to be published in full before any review meeting takes place.

The notice posted on the council website said: “Take notice that an application has been made by Merseyside Police pursuant to Section 51 of the Licensing Act 2003 for the review of the premises licence in force for Wheatsheaf Hotel, 186 East Prescot Road, Liverpool, L14 5NG
“The grounds for review are: A review of the license for this premises is related to the licensing objectives of: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety and public nuisance.”
The notice goes on to state that anyone who wants to submit a representation for the review can do so via the council’s website.
The deadline for any representations is April 19, with any review meeting set to happen after that date.
