Jurgen Klopp could stop just short of making eleven changes for Liverpool's Carabao Cup tie at Milton Keynes Dons on Wednesday due to injuries.
Assistant boss Pep Lijnders has confirmed that both Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi, two valuable squad players for the Reds, will both be absent for the trip to Stadium MK.
Both would surely have come in from the start had they been fit, while any temptation to play Sadio Mane will be resisted after he went off in the weekend win over Chelsea with a knock.
Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are also both likely to be rested as Klopp keeps his attacking stars in reserve for the weekend trip to Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Their absences and that of Shaqiri and Origi could end up pointing to a change in formation for the Reds, with in a 4-2-3-1 in what will be his first senior appearance for the Reds.
Irish youngster Caoimhin Kelleher will make his senior debut in goal , with the 20-year-old having recovered from the broken wrist that saw him miss the whole of pre-season.
The Republic of Ireland under-21 international has been on the bench for the last five Reds games, but will now come in for Adrian.

Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren seem certain to start as the centre-back pairing, with Ki-Jana Hoever perhaps getting a second senior start at right-back.
Adam Lewis and Yasser Larouci are both options at left-back, but Klopp may opt for the seniority of James Milner, allowing him to give minutes to others in midfield.
Adam Lallana will almost certainly start, and Gini Wijnaldum could be the only player who started the win at Chelsea who is asked to go again in midfield.

Lijnders has confirmed that Naby Keita is set for his first start of the season, and he could join Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and youngster Curtis Jones, the under-23s captain, in providing support for Brewster.
Liverpool predicted XI: Kelleher; Hoever, Gomez, Lovren, Milner; Lallana, Wijnaldum; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita, Jones; Brewster
