Liverpool predicted XI vs Leicester City as Jurgen Klopp faces further injury setbacks

Liverpool could secure an important result in their Premier League title defence on Sunday with victory over current leaders Leicester City.

The Reds go into the game off the back of a stalemate at Manchester City before the international break, and will be looking to return to winning ways at Anfield this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp will be missing a number of his key players for the match, with defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez sidelined along with Mo Salah who returned a positive coronavirus test while on international duty with Egypt.

Liverpool will also be without Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who both started the draw at City, with the pair suffering from minor issues.

Midfield pair Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will face late fitness tests but could miss out as well.

“Hendo not [available] and Trent not, that’s clear," Klopp told the club website. "All the rest we will see.

“They are in a good way, Ox [is] in a good way. They are all closer but we will see if it is close enough for the weekend.”

However, the Premier League champions will be bolstered by the potential return of Fabinho.

The Brazil midfielder trained this week and could be set to feature in midfield for the Reds on Sunday alongside Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Regarding the rest of the pitch, first-choice goalkeeper Alisson will line up between the sticks as Liverpool look to secure their third clean sheet in five matches in all competitions.

Stand-in centre-back Nathaniel Phillips should feature alongside Joel Matip at the heart of defence, while James Milner could come in at right-back in Alexander-Arnold's absence.

Andrew Robertson, fresh from securing Euro 2020 qualification with Scotland, will take up his usual spot on the left side of the back four.

Summer signing Jota is expected to feature on the right of Liverpool's attacking trio with Sadio Mane on the opposite wing, flanking Roberto Firmino who will play centrally.

Leicester City will be facing injury problems of their own, with Brendan Rodgers set to be without Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey.

Timothy Castagne and Wilfried Ndidi are doubtful while Ricardo Pereira could make a long-awaited return to the Foxes side.

Liverpool predicted XI vs Leicester City (4-3-3): Alisson; Milner, Matip, Phlllips, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Jota, Firmino, Mane.
