Liverpool predicted line-up vs Chelsea with Jurgen Klopp making Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson decisions

Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Tuesday night as they face Chelsea.

The Reds go into the clash at Stamford Bridge on the back of a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend. That result saw Liverpool drop to eighth place in the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are now eight points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City and have 11 fixtures remaining this season. Tuesday’s clash against Chelsea is a rearranged fixture that was originally scheduled to be played last September.

Liverpool will still have some injury concerns going into the game at Stamford Bridge. But Klopp may also have one or two players back from the sidelines.

Naby Keita is still ruled out after suffering a muscle injury while on international duty with Guinea. He missed the trip to Man City and is set to be absent for the clash against Chelsea.

Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara will also not return to the matchday squad after their respective injuries. Diaz hasn’t played since October after suffering a serious knee injury in a defeat to Arsenal.

Thiago has been absent since the start of February with a hip flexor injury. Klopp said that both players have taken part in training, but will not be part of the matchday squad that travels to London.

The defeat to Man City saw Klopp make several substitutions, with one of them being Andy Robertson replaced by Kostas Tsimikas. The Liverpool boss may well turn to Tsimikas to start against Chelsea, given there’s a clash against Arsenal to come at the weekend.

Given the lack of midfield options, Klopp has little choice on who to go with in the middle of the park. Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott start against Man City, and there is only Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Arthur Melo remaining as recognised midfield options.

Darwin Nunez may also be in contention to start against Chelsea. The striker suffered a cut ankle before the international break and only recovered enough to make a substitute appearance at the Etihad Stadium.

Klopp may well think that he needs his star striker on the pitch from the start given the importance of the fixture. If not, there is Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino on the bench and readily available.

Liverpool predicted line-up vs Chelsea: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Henderson, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo.
