Liverpool potential Champions League quarter-final opponents after Inter Milan progress

Liverpool will discover their quarter-final opponents in the UEFA Champions league in the draw on Friday, March 18.

The Reds earned their place in the last eight of the Champions League on Tuesday, despite a 1-0 defeat at Anfield in the second leg.

Jurgen Klopp’s side headed into the game in a commanding position following their previous 2-0 win at the San Siro, courtesy of goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool ’s progress in Europe is the latest sign of the club’s successful season so far, with the Reds still competing in three competitions after already winning the Carabao Cup last month.

UEFA’s rules surrounding seeding and country protection will be removed at the quarter-final stage, meaning Liverpool could face another English side in the next round.

Who are their possible opponents?

Bayern Munich recorded a rampant 7-1 win over RB Salzburg on Tuesday to earn their spot in the quarter-finals, despite the two sides being level after the first leg.

Though Manchester City are yet to play their final tie, it would take a miraculous effort from Sporting Lisbon to overturn City's 5-0 lead from their first meeting.

Meanwhile, PSG hold a slight advantage over Real Madrid following Kylian Mbappe's last-gasp winner in the first leg, ahead of their away tie on Wednesday at the Bernabeu.

Looking ahead to next week’s fixtures, Chelsea are the only side to have won their opening game against Lille.

Liverpool's bitter rivals Manchester United are preparing to take on Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford, following their earlier draw in Spain.

While both Ajax and Benfica (2-2) and Juventus and Villarreal (1-1) will also head into their decisive ties on level terms.
