Liverpool players past and present party at Barcelona star Jordi Alba's wedding

Jordi Alba knows a thing or two about running up the wing, but the Barcelona star was instead waiting at the end of an aisle on Saturday and Thiago Alcantara was likely there to witness it.

The Liverpool midfielder is believed to have travelled to Seville with his wife, Julia Vigas, to see former teammate Alba finally tie the knot with long-term girlfriend Romarey Ventura, amid a guest list that reads like European footballing royalty. Also in attendance were Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at the star-studded event in the boiling Andalusian capital.

Although no photos of Thiago have yet emerged, wife Julia has posted an animated photo on social media of herself at the reception alongside the partner of Sergio Busquets - Elena Galera.

Liverpool's cultured playmaker was not the only Reds favourite believed to be at the wedding. Aside from Suarez, FA Cup-winning goalkeeper Pepe Reina was also a guest of Alba's. Other household names in attendance included Barcelona manager and legendary player Xavi, Sergi Roberto, Busquets, Alvaro Morata, Manchester United 'keeper David De Gea, ex-Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas and former Real Madrid great Sergio Ramos.

But there was no sign of veteran Barca defender Gerard Pique, following his high-profile split from pop superstar Shakira. Judging by the photos posted on Instagram by Thiago and Reina, a good time was had by all. Whether Thiago moves as well on the dance floor as he switches a ball on the pitch has not yet come to light however.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a trophy-laden five seasons at the Nou Camp from 2008-2013, winning four La Liga titles and the Champions League. His subsequent move to Bayern Munich was even more successful, collecting seven Bundesliga titles and another Champions League winners medal. Now at Anfield, he already has League Cup and FA Cup successes to his name.
