Liverpool players including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Divock Origi congratulate Simon Mignolet on birth of son

Liverpool players rushed to congratulate Simon Mignolet on the birth of his first child.

Mignolet left Liverpool for Club Brugge in August in a deal worth initially around £6.5million after featuring just twice for the Reds last term.

The switch brought about an end to a six-year stay at Anfield for the 31-year-old, who joined from Sunderland for around £9m in the summer of 2013.

Earlier today, the 31-year-old revealed he and wife Jasmien Claes had welcomed a baby boy.

Sharing a series of pictures, little Lex looked extremely cute in his baby hat with alpaca embroidery.

Mignolet captioned the posts: "When son meets dad! #welcomeLex #LEX"

Following the happy news, a number of Mignolet's former teammates congratulated him on becoming a father.

Reds captain Jordan Henderson wrote: "Congrats big man!!!"
