Liverpool player 'ratings' vs Blackpool as Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino shine but Fabinho struggles

Alisson

Conceded a penalty with a late trip after rushing out when he didn’t really need to. Couldn’t do anything about either finish though, buried right into either corner.

Ki-Jana Hoever

Tricky afternoon against Kakai. Had a couple of crossing opportunities but unable to deliver to the standards of Alexander-Arnold. Did play a part in Firmino’s goal with a clever cutback.

Joel Matip

Back with a goal! No signs of rustiness from the Cameroonian despite his three-month lay-off. A bright return with him in the right place at the right time to make a number of clearances.

Billy Koumetio

Handed a first start but at fault for the opening goal. A nervy showing from the 17-year-old on his first start as he was replaced at half-time.

James Milner

Wouldn’t have expected to have been back at left-back so soon after Tsimikas’ signing. Set up Matip’s goal with a smart cross.

Fabinho

Earned Klopp’s rage late in the first half for not winning a challenge. Still not at his best in pre-season and was replaced at half-time.

Naby Keita

Very unlucky not to score with a great volley that beat Maxwell but came back off the post. Could have scored a second and involved in many of the Reds best moves after the break.

Takumi Minamino

Liverpool’s best performer, he caught the eye in an advanced midfield role. Saw one shot cleared off the line but should have done better with another fired straight at Maxwell. Set up Firmino then eventually got his goal with a cool finish from the Brazilian’s cutback.

Sadio Mane

Unlucky not to score with a close-range effort straight at Maxwell but scored at the third attempt with a simple tap-in to equalise after the break.

Mohamed Salah

Penny for his thoughts. The only senior attacker not to score for Liverpool. A quiet showing from the Egyptian though he did almost set up an equaliser in the first half when cutting the ball back to Minamino.

Roberto Firmino

The liveliest of Liverpool’s front three, scored a lovely, cheeky backheel for his second of pre-season and provided a great assist for Minamino’s goal.

Nat Phillips (On for Matip, 46)

Could well be his final appearance for Liverpool if he’s sold this summer. Kept a second half clean sheet and put in a mature performance against Yates.

Sepp van den Berg (On for Koumetio, 46)

Rounded off the scoring with a tap-in. Admittedly not troubled as much as the man he replaced as Liverpool stepped it up after the interval.

Curtis Jones (On for Fabinho, 46)

Another great showing from the younger. Desperate to score as he dragged one wide. Will have to settle with an assist with a great low cross for Origi.

Adrian (On for Alisson, 62)

Made a couple of saves and can be happy with his clean sheet.

Divock Origi (On for Mane, 62)

Got in on the scoring with a tap-in from Jones’ low cross. Set up Elliott with a lovely through-ball beforehand.

Harvey Elliott (On for Salah, 62)

Will be delighted to get his first Liverpool goal in front of the Kop, just a shame there were no fans present to see it. Lovely assist for Van den Berg’s goal late on.
