Liverpool player ratings vs Sheffield United - One man gets top marks but others off the pace

Adrian 7

Held an early one from McBurnie. Got away with missing a corner after break, and turned behind a Norwood shot. Booked for timewasting.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

Wobbled slightly a bit first half and too much distribution was wayward. Improved second half, particularly defensively.

Joel Matip 7

A couple of bad passes aside, was strong up against McBurnie before the interval. Helped blunt the Blades throughout.

Virgil van Dijk 9

Won header after header and spent the remainder of the first half bemoaning his team-mates. Colossal after the break.

Andy Robertson 5

Made a good block after his error put the defence in trouble but struggled with his touch. Marginal improvement in final half-hour, but tough going.

Fabinho 7

Provided welcome help in the air the the backline at times, and nipped in with the odd good tackle. Passing attempted to get Reds going.

Jordan Henderson 6

Looked to move Liverpool forward but not a lot of movement ahead of him. Tidy enough but hampered by an injury shortly after the break and subbed.

Gini Wijnaldum 6

Caught out on occasions in midfield and didn't do anywhere near enough. Afternoon summed up with one simple pass put straight out of play. Got lucky with his goal but, hey, they all count.

Mohamed Salah 5

Flashed a snapshot wide but not much joy first half despite forcing some errors. Totally off the pace after the break, though, and missed a sitter when clean through.

Roberto Firmino 5

Difficult to remember him being so rarely involved than the opening 45 minutes. Bit more going on second half, but not much.

Sadio Mane 5

Desperate to get in behind first half, and when he did the Senegalese fluffed his lines badly. Then hit the post with an even easier chance.

Divock Origi (for Henderson 64) 7

Made a huge difference to the attack and almost fashioned a chance immediately after being introduced.

James Milner (for Firmino 88)

English.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Mane 90+4)

Win bonus.
