Liverpool player ratings - Fabinho nightmare continues as James Milner leads by example

Adrian 6

Turned an Ake cross on to the bar and shovelled a Stanislas shot wide first half, but not very convincingly. Quiet second half.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Delivery from the right caused all sorts of problems for Bournemouth before break and defensively much tighter. Slight wobble after interval, but came through it.

Joe Gomez 6

Clearly shoved by Wilson for the opener – VAR asleep for that one – and didn’t have it easy in the physical battle with the striker. Stronger second half, however.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Excellent interception and pass for the second goal and good defensive headers. Drew cheers by holding off Billing for one sustained period.s

James Milner 8

Offered himself at both ends of the pitch before the break. Just as importantly had words with the referee, who was terrible. Great goalline clearance prevented Fraser equaliser. Led by example.

Fabinho 5

Still nowhere near his best and appeared slow and sometimes out of position first half. Improved slight in second 45, but his form remains a major worry.

Gini Wijnaldum 6

Lots of energy and keen to break forward at every opportunity during opening period. More controlled after interval.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 7

Started so brightly and continued with impressive work-rate and use of the ball. Kept taking it to Bournemouth second half, but not always as effectively. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 7

Took his goal well and created another chance for Milner first half. Came close again after break and lively throughout.

Roberto Firmino 6

One shot well saved by Ramsdale before break but could have done more when dropping deep. Fitful second half continued the theme, and missed great chance for 3-1. Subbed.

Sadio Mane 8

Good closing down for the equaliser although not the best pass to Salah. No doubting the brilliance of his finish for the second, though, and struck bar second half. Impressive.

Adam Lallana (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 84)

Helped keep the ball.

Divock Origi (for Firmino 90+2)

One run.
