Liverpool player ratings - Concerns for Jurgen Klopp after Napoli defeat

Simon Mignolet 5

Not much chance with the first two goals, but could have done so much better with the third instead of parrying Insigne's shot back into the danger zone.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 5

Defensively not given much protection but bombed on regardless. All three Napoli goals came down his flank, the second after he gave the ball away.

Joel Matip 6

Couldn't cope with Insigne when left exposed for the opener. Otherwise solid enough.

Virgil van Dijk 6

The defensive travails even affected the Dutchman, caught out when stepping forward on occasion.

Highlights and reaction from the defeat to Napoli here

Andy Robertson 6

Given a huge cheer before the game, the Scotland skipper was the best Liverpool defender if still nowhere near his top level.

Fabinho 6

Kept play moving, particularly during the opening quarter when Liverpool dominated. Okay after that, nothing more.

Jordan Henderson 5

Dozing with dispossessed near his own area and appeared to struggle to find a position as Klopp chopped and changed his midfield.

James Milner 6

Worked hard and tried to make things happen going forward but there wasn't any real cutting edge.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 5

Other than gaining extra minutes, it's clear the England man remains a long way from real first-team contention despite rotating flanks in an attempt to get him going.

Divock Origi 5

A deft touch put one early chance wide but his lost ball sparked Napoli's opener and often hounded out.

Gini Wijnaldum 6

The left-wing experiment nowhere near as successful as against Sporting. Not much wrong but very little threat at the business end.

Dejan Lovren (for Matip 62) 6

A few headers.

Adam Lallana (for Henderson 62) 6

Attempted a few bursts.

Harry Wilson (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 62) 6

Won a free-kick with one run but curled it over, and so close with one shot from range.

Rhian Brewster (for Origi 62) 6

Had one shot blocked.

Ki-Jana Hoever (for Robertson 74) 6, Joe Gomez (for Alexander-Arnold 74) 6, Bobby Duncan (for Milner 79), Adam Lewis (for Fabinho 79), Sepp van den Berg (for Van Dijk 79), Harvey Elliott (for Wijnaldum 79).
