Liverpool player ratings as Thiago and Andy Robertson brilliant against Southampton

Alisson Becker 7

Good saves to deny Broja and Armstrong at either end of first half, and another decent stop later kept out the latter.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

Sold Konate short with throw-in for Broja chance, but going forward provided plenty of ammunition. Involved in second goal and corner set up third.

Ibrahima Konate 7

Some nervy moments – thanks in part to the conditions – but earned pat from Alisson for putting off Broja when Southampton man was clear and later blocked goalbound Armstrong effort. An improvement.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Marshalled the back line with authority and mopped up whenever required. Dealt with swirling wind well and thundered home fine strike for the fourth.

Andy Robertson 9

Created the first with low cross and a constant threat down the left going forward, linking well with Mane and Jota. Excellent return to form.

Fabinho 7

The usual combination of good positioning, intercepting and solid tackling from the Brazilian. Doesn’t mind the dirty work.

Thiago Alcantara 8

Took some risks in possession but they paid off, helping find holes in between the Southampton lines. Drop of shoulder before striking his deflected goal was delicious. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 8

Linked superbly with Salah in the build-up to the second and kept Liverpool pushing forward with swift distribution. Subbed.

Give us YOUR player ratings for the Saints win:

Mohamed Salah 7

Toyed with Salisu for most of the first half, close with one curler and assisted the second, but should have done better when clean through towards break.

Diogo Jota 8

In the right place to tuck away twice before the break and could easily have had more with a bit more accuracy. Subbed.

Sadio Mane 8

Full of energy and vigour, played big part in the opener and marginal call saw header chalked off for offside.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Thaigo 59) 7

More minutes against his former club and warmed palms of McCarthy with one drive.

James Milner (for Henderson 67) 7

Dragged effort wide on first Premier League action in a month.

Takumi Minamino (for Jota 81)
