Liverpool player ratings as Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota bad in dismal Leicester defeat

Alisson Becker 6

Largely unemployed and no chance for Leicester’s winner.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Distribution, particularly over range, caused Leicester issues and defensively decent until being pulled out of position in build-up to the winner.

Joel Matip 7

Had to negotiate most of the game on a yellow card after foul on Iheanacho, and went on a number of trademark forward runs that deserved better reward.

Virgil van Dijk 6

Barely involved until just before the interval as Leicester kept the ball away from the Dutchman. Dealt with Vardy well enough.

Kostas Tsimikas 6

Got into some good progressive positions but too often his deliveries were erratic and made the wrong choice.

Fabinho 6

Escaped after an early foul on Choudhury and made little impact, too often seemingly treading on egg-shells to avoid the booking that would see him miss the Chelsea game. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 6

Playing a lot more offensively than normal, got into some good shooting positions but lacked accuracy. Became bogged down second half. Subbed.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 5

Almost caught out Schmeichel with one cross intended for Henderson but otherwise far too peripheral and overly ambitious in possession. Subbed.

*Give us your LFC player ratings:

Mohamed Salah 6

Won and missed a penalty, headed the rebound against the bar and later saw Schmeichel make a great save. One of those nights.

Diogo Jota 5

Had one shot blocked during the early exchanges but only rarely popped up after that other than creating chance for Mane and when wide with one header.

Sadio Mane 5

Saw a lot of the ball in the opening quarter but too loose with his touch and responsible for poor miss in second half.

Naby Keita (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 55) 5

Unable to make any positive difference unlike last week.

James Milner (for Fabinho 64) 5

Made some challenges but gave the ball away too often.

Roberto Firmino (for Henderson 70) 5

Didn’t make much impact.
