Liverpool player ratings as Mohamed Salah and four others star vs West Ham

Alisson Becker 7

Sound handling on the rare occasions the Hammers threatened, and happy to take on Antonio with one wander out of his box.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

Safe in possession and held his own when left one-on-one defensively. Played key part in the first two goals.

Nat Phillips 8

Wasn’t intimidated by Antonio in the air and confident with his passing. Again proved he can be trusted as a centre-back option.

Jordan Henderson 8

Kept things simple with his defending and vocal encouragement throughout. Stepped out when required.

Andy Robertson 7

Found some good positions going forward – particularly in first half – and headed deflected Forlans effort off line.

Gini Wijnaldum 8

Looked to again dictate from the deeper midfield role and good energy. Rarely wasted a pass and so often in the right place, not least when tapping in the third.

Thiago Alcantara 7

One or two glimpses of promise before break, especially a pass almost converted by Origi. Further confidence built by solid showing.

James Milner 7

Soon gained understanding with Robertson down left and strong in the tackle. Wasn’t happy with Klopp at being subbed, but soon changed his tune as Liverpool instantly opened the scoring.

Xherdan Shaqiri 7

At the tip of the midfield diamond, had one shot blocked first half and involved in build-up to first goal before brilliant first-time cross for the second. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 9

Playing up top, a few sniffs of chances in first half before fashioning brilliant opener and sublime finish for the second. Even popped up with a clearing header in his own box at one point.

Divock Origi 7

Early shot over from angle and close before half-time before starting to make his physical presence felt in a decent second-half showing. Subbed.

Instant impact with forward run and pass creating the opener.

Brilliant interplay created the third for Wijnaldum.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Origi 80)

Nice backheel in the build-up to the final goal.
