Liverpool player 'ratings' as Harvey Elliott impressive and Mohamed Salah sharp against Crystal Palace

Adrian

Clutched a couple of crosses but otherwise little to do.

James Milner

Continued to defy the ageing process with another all-action showing as a makeshift right-back.

Ibrahima Konate

Too fast for Mateta in one race and prompted huge cheers with a strong challenge on Edouard.

Joel Matip

Soon began bringing the ball out of defence and more minutes in the tank.

Kostas Tsimikas

Competitive on the left side of defence and pushed forward regularly, crossing for chance for Firmino.

Jordan Henderson

Sprayed the ball about effectively and thumped home a fine strike for the opener.

Harvey Elliott

Another impressive showing of energy, ingenuity and technique from the teenager. Wide with one effort.

Curtis Jones

Playing on the left of midfield, saw one shot smothered behind early on but not all attempted tricks came off.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Drifted in off the right which gave Elliott space, and was lively, particularly when initiating counter-attacks. Concerning he went off just before half-time, though.

Roberto Firmino

Took a little while to find his touch consistently but continually found pockets of space. Could have had penalty when header was handled behind.

Luis Diaz

Not quite as dangerous going forward as against Manchester United but pressed like a demon.

Leighton Clarkson (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 44)

A few unexpected minutes.

Harvey Davies (for Adrian 46)

Fantastic moment for the teenage goalkeeper.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (for Milner 46)

Set up Salah’s strike and so dangerous whenever pressing forward, which was often.

Sepp van den Berg (for Matip 46)

Showed great strength and persistence to hold off Edouard shortly after coming on.

Virgil van Dijk (for Konate 46)

Strolled through the second half and close with one trademark leap from a corner.

Andy Robertson (for Tsimikas 46)

Blocked one Palace effort and decent minutes.

Fabinho (for Henderson 46)

Continues to gradually work his way up to optimum level.

Naby Keita (for Elliott 46)

Linked play well in the engine room and continually looked to drive the ball forward.

Thiago Alcantara (for Jones 46)

Passing was on point and good energy in stifling conditions.

Mohamed Salah (for Clarkson 46)

Looked sharp, set up a chance for Nunez and scored the second via a deflection.

Darwin Nunez (for Firmino 46)

Action-packed showing in which his eagerness to impress saw him have two shots saved and knock over a succession of Palace defenders.

Fabio Carvalho (for Diaz 46)

Consistently fouled as he demonstrated his versatility by lining up on the left-side of the attack and later in midfield. Drew good save from Guaita with low curler.

Fabian Mrozek (for Davies 78)

Instantly involved with a good claim.

Isaac Mabaya (for Alexander-Arnold 78)

Another chance at right-back for the youngster.

Nat Phillips (for Van Dijk 78)

A more steady performance.

Rhys Williams (for Van den Berg 78)

Reunited the centre-back pairing of late 2020/21.

Luke Chambers (for Robertson 78)

More decent minutes for the teenager.

Stefan Bajcetic (for Fabinho 78)

Building confidence with another stylish cameo.

Tyler Morton (for Thiago 78)

Again in a more advanced role and close with one shot at the end.

Bobby Clark (for Nunez 78)

Knocking over O’Brien shows he has no fear at this level.

James Norris (for Keita 78)

Popped up on the left side of the attack.
