Liverpool's unbeaten Premier League season came to a crashing end at Watford as the Hornets earned a huge win in their battle against the drop.
After a low-key first half, the hosts took the lead when Ismaila Sarr pounced amid awful defending from a throw-in as the Reds failed to clear.
Sarr then raced clear from the static home defence to make it 2-0, while Troy Deeney clipping home a third goal after a Trent Alexander-Arnold error.
Substitute Adam Lallana hit the post from distance, but the dismal Reds were second best throughout the contest, and here's how Jurgen Klopp's men rated.
Alisson - 6
Rushed off his line to deny Troy Deeney in what was really his only action of the first half, and then started the second by tipping over Sarr's effort.
Was soon beaten twice by the Senegalese as his defenders left him exposed.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 5
Struggled to get on the ball in the first period, and his passing range seemed more than a little off in the blustery conditions.
Then committed a poor error for Deeney's goal on what was a desperately poor night.
Dejan Lovren - 5
All eyes were always going to be on the Croatian as he made a first league start since December 7, but he started well amid mounting Hornets pressure. Then things went wrong.
The first and second goals weren't all his fault, but he was on the scene of the crimes.
Virgil van Dijk - 5
Typically well-placed to block an Abdoulaye Doucoure effort in the first half, after which he trotted out a trademark stare.
Fingers can be pointed at the Dutchman for both Sarr goals though, as he failed to react to danger for the first and was flat-footed for the second.
Not the standard we expect.
Andy Robertson - 6
Like Alexander-Arnold, was only scurrying forward in the first half in typical fashion only to be let down by a lack of quality in either his own touch or the touches of those around him.
Was the only real attacking outlet in the second period, when he tried to make things happen.
Fabinho - 4
Liverpool certainly missed Jordan Henderson's influence here, with Fabinho suffering more than most.
The Brazilian was a passenger as much of the game bypassed him.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 5
At least tried to make things happen early on, but was too often crowded out. His attempts to force it can often look poor in games like this when those around him are struggling.
Gini Wijnaldum - 4
Completely anonymous in the first period, and soon departed after it went 2-0.
Mohamed Salah - 5
Seemed to be the one struggling most with the windy conditions early on, and fired into the side-netting when he could have done better.
Adam Masina dealt with him as well as any left-back has all season.
Roberto Firmino - 5
Another one whose touch let him down in that scrappy first half, he then got a bit swallowed up by the game as Watford dominated.
Sadio Mane - 4
As quiet as he's been for some time. Nothing he tried really came off at all.
