Liverpool player ratings as Thiago stars but Alisson steals show with West Brom winner

Alisson Becker 9

Some necessary claims first half as West Brom threatened from set-pieces. Good stop denied Robson-Kanu second half before his incredible header to win the game.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

Fine block denied Robson-Kanu a certain second and a constant outlet going forward, using the ball well. Missed great chance late on, but corner created winner.

Nat Phillips 6

Played Robson-Kanu onside for the opener and a lot more uncertain positionally than of late, but improved as game progressed.

Rhys Williams 7

Unruffled despite clearly being targeted by the home side early on. Decent second half before being sacrificed.

Andy Robertson 5

Caught out of position a bit too often before break, with West Brom’s best chances coming from his flank. Tired legs second half.

Fabinho 7

Assertive in midfield, both in his defensive work and getting Liverpool on the attack. Moved to centre-back in closing moments.

Thiago Alcantara 9

Always looked to get Liverpool on the attack and moved the ball quickly and intelligently. Twice close second half and deserved the win as much as anyone.

Curtis Jones 6

Involved heavily in parts but unable to influence proceedings to any degree before interval, after which he was at least more involved. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 7

Nibbled away at the Baggies defence first half and was ultimately rewarded with a great finish for the leveller. Frustration after break, though.

Roberto Firmino 6

Skipper for the day, quiet for large periods but quick-thinking sparked the move for equaliser and then hit the post. Two chances in second half hit wide.

Sadio Mane 5

Clearly energised on his recall, good pressure created equaliser for Salah but fell away dramatically in the second half.

Xherdan Shaqiri (for Jones 59) 6

Lots of effort but couldn’t unlock the West Brom defence.

Gini Wijnaldum (for Williams 84)

Hail Mary move from Klopp, sent late chance just too high.
