Liverpool player Diogo Jota makes Cristiano Ronaldo and Mo Salah comparison

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota believes Mohamed Salah is approaching the same level of quality as Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah has been in glittering form so far this season, netting 15 goals and claiming six assists in 14 appearances in all competitions so far.

The Egyptian's form over the last few months has seen many people describe him as the best player in the world on current form, potentially replacing Ronaldo, who has been impressive in fits and starts since returning to Old Trafford this season.

For Jota, who experiences the privilege of playing alongside both of them, rubbing shoulders with Ronaldo on international duty for Portugal, Salah is edging closer to reaching a similar level to that of Ronaldo - even though the United ace has won five UEFA Champions League titles among numerous other gongs.

"I have that first feeling when I achieved national team and playing with Ronaldo," Jota told Sky Sports, when asked if playing alongside Salah was an honour.

"I think I can put him not yet too similar, because I think Ronaldo has done it for so long and still does, but (they have) the same standards when they are on the field.

"Very dangerous, they can score at any time. That for me is very useful because I can watch and learn from them."

Salah, who scored a hat-trick against United at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago, has been in fine fettle himself, but Jota insists his dazzling form has helped his team-mates.

"[Salah is a] great player. World class, obviously. Everyone knew that. I think this season is showing the world his technique, he's scoring goals for fun," Jota continued.

"Great goals, individual goals and for us that is helpful because we know that on the field we have someone that can decide the game.

"For the opponents as well, they know they have to be careful with him and we need to make the spaces they leave because they are too worried with him."
